Alba Roll of Honor

The Past
Young men around the country volunteered for military service when the United States joined World War I. So many came from Alba, The Mancelona Herald called it the most patriotic of towns in Antrim County.

After the war, the community honored 31 men with a monument in the business district facing Alba Road. Some time later, it disappeared. When and why remain a mystery.
The Present
While researching the names on the monument, the Alba graduating class of 2028 discovered that over half of them are buried a short distance from the school in Star Township. The students decided a new monument to the service of these 31 men was not only appropriate, but necessary. Biographical research continues, but here is what has been learned so far.

We are privileged to be working with these students to honor the men of their community and replace a piece of Alba's history. The new monument will appear much like the image to the right.

The Alba Class of 2028 is accepting donations to place the new monument close to the place where the original once stood. Contact Jordan Valley Monuments for more information or to make a donation.
